Above the fold is the portion of your homepage that's visible before a visitor does any scrolling. On a laptop screen, that's roughly 600 to 700 pixels of vertical space. On a phone, where the majority of your visitors are likely arriving, it's even less. This is the most valuable real estate on your entire website, and most solopreneur homepages are using it in completely the wrong ways.

The sneaky thing about a website that's losing you clients is that it doesn't announce itself. There's no error message, no bounce alert, no email that says "hey, someone just left your homepage confused." People just quietly click away and book someone else. Meanwhile, you're wondering why enquiries aren't coming in when you've got a website right there.
