Wix Studio SEO: The Non-Boring Guide to Getting Found on Google

Illustration of a woman using a laptop beside a search window with floating message bubbles, suggesting online work or research.

Let's talk about the thing everyone says is important and almost no one actually does properly: SEO.

This is not that kind of SEO article. No keyword density formulas, no 87-step technical audits.

The myth about Wix Studio SEO

"I've been told Wix doesn't rank well on Google." This was partially true years ago. It is no longer true. Wix Studio gives full control over page titles, meta descriptions, structured data, canonical URLs, image alt text, robots.txt, and XML sitemaps. For a broader comparison, my post on comparing popular website builders covers this in detail.

The fundamentals every solopreneur needs to get right

  • Page titles: Include your focus keyword and business name, 50–60 characters.

  • Meta descriptions: Written for humans, 150–160 characters.

  • Heading structure: Exactly one H1 per page.

  • Image alt text: Accurate description + relevant keyword. This also improves accessibility, see my guide to making your website more accessible.

  • URL structure: Short, readable, keyword-included.

  • Page loading speed: Compress images with TinyPNG or Squoosh. My post on image optimisation goes into detail.

The setup tool most people are ignoring

Wix's built-in SEO setup wizard connects Google Search Console, submits your sitemap, and verifies domain ownership. Takes ~20 minutes.

Does blogging for SEO actually work on Wix?

Yes, exactly as well as any other platform, if you write around keywords your ideal client actually searches. My post on SEO and UX/UI best practices goes into the design side of search visibility.

What to do first, in priority order:

  1. Work through the Wix SEO setup wizard

  2. Update your homepage page title and meta description

  3. Check your homepage H1

  4. Add alt text to every homepage image

  5. Update page titles/descriptions for all service pages

  6. Compress large images

  7. Start a blog with keyword-researched posts
